Our obliques are an important muscle(s), they are a vital part of our core and torso. We have two obliques, an internal oblique and an external oblique, and when combine with the transversus abdominus, create a great support system for the spine and entire body. When strengthening this part of the torso it is important to keep the muscles long and strong, as restriction can lead to a slew of issues such as hip, back and shoulder pain.
